Marching Forward Into the World of Figure Drawing

As stated in my previous post, I am currently working on figure drawings.  Although figure drawings are not my cup of tea, i intend to challenge myself with it.  My most recent drawing is of a close friend of mine, I hope all of you enjoy, thanks for stopping by for another weekly update. ^_^

"Can You Raed Tihs"

During my graphic design class we discussed typography.  The study made by Cambridge University demonstrating that the human brain does not look at each letter of a word, but the word as a whole, was a very intriguing topic.  Their research shows that as long as the first and last letter of a word are in the correct location, our mind decodes the rest of the jumbled letters.

Experimenting With Figure Drawing

Figure drawing is not my cup of tea, however, I feel as though it is something I must do to expand my skills as an artist. For the next few weeks, I will attempt to improve myself in this area as I use the great master Rubens, as inspiration.  Although I am aware of the fact that I will in no way, shape, or form be comparable to that great master, I will be able to appreciate his techniques.  Please look forward to seeing my well intended, yet poorly executed, figure drawings in the near future.

Using Rubens As Inspiration

Peter Paul Rubens:

The two images above are drawings created by the great master, Peter Paul Rubens.  I am currently using these two images as inspiration as I advance in my drawing 3 class this trimester.  We are currently learning how to draw the figure, which is something I am terrible at; hopefully with these images in the back of my mind, I will continue to dive into my drawings and pick myself up each time I fall. ^_^
